About

aistrategy.agency is a founder-led practice in Cape Town. Small on purpose, built around one person who writes the roadmap and then builds the system, with AI doing a large share of the delivery.

Drew van Vuuren

Drew has spent his career connecting business systems that were never meant to talk to each other: point of sale, ERP, delivery platforms, document stores, no-code tools and cloud platforms. That background is why our AI work starts from the data and the process, not from the model.

Current work is concentrated in multi-site retail and food service, where the problems are concrete: the reconciliation that is always a week late, the stock count on paper, the ticket app that charges per head. He runs the practice from Cape Town and works with clients across South Africa and abroad.

How we think

  • Clarity

We explain in plain language what a system does and what it cannot do. If you can't explain it to your board, we haven't finished.

  • Consequences need a person

Reading and drafting can be automatic. Sending, paying, deleting and sharing cannot. That line is built into everything we ship.

  • You own it

Systems run in your cloud account, on your data, with documentation good enough for someone else to take over.

  • Measured outcomes

Where we can, we price against the saving or recovery. Where we can't, we say what we will measure before we start.

  • No lock-in

Model vendors change monthly. Our builds sit on a provider-neutral core so the model can be swapped without a rebuild.

How we work with AI ourselves

A large share of our delivery is done with AI coding and research tools, under the same rule we apply to client systems: the tool proposes, a person approves anything that ships. That is how a small practice delivers systems that used to need a team, and it is why we can be honest about what these tools are good at and where they still fail.
